Take a drive around in Malaysia. Go anywhere in Klang Valley. The amount of automobile workshop is comparable to fast food restaurants here. Perhaps even more. This IS the truth and I’m not exaggerating. Just to name a few, Klang, Sunway, USJ, Chan Sow Lin, Ampang, Pandan Indah are places that one can find infinite number of workshops. Rows and rows of them. From body painting to engine modification, windows tinting to suspension rebuilt, exhaust upgrade to custom body fabrication; you name it, you find it. You think I’m bloody bullshitting ain’t it? Oh well, here’s the catch. Truth is, not every shop can do a good job. In fact, you would be lucky if the car doesn’t comes back to you with some new problems forcing you to pay them another visit.
As the title suggest, I’m about to review an exhaust shop known for its workmanship. Continued from the previous post, Judy is sent in to custom make her exhaust system from just after the exhaust manifold to the tip. Well, I’m not gonna beat around the bush. This is my third time there. I was recommended by different people to this shop. Saki did hers there a year ago and is probably the best RM1100 I’ve ever spent. Took Crystal there to do some modification on her exhaust system and it turned out to be exactly what we wanted if not better. In my opinion, Judy’s in good hands.
So is about the workmanship. On top of that, the dedication to their work is truly remarkable. Is true that there is little to beauty since the entire system is underneath the car. Beauty aside, proper workmanship ensures long lasting exhaust system. Since it is under the car, the exhaust system takes a lot of abuse. Scraping thru speed bumps and potholes, gets wet down by rain water……snow and salt; rust is inevitable. This workshop understands it all and takes all the necessary precaution for you while making your exhaust system. Making it as safely high as possible so you would avoid scraping it; welding it to perfection so you won’t get exhaust leak and lost a few valuable horsepower; applies proper anti rust on welding spots so you rust would not develop.
As if it wasn’t tedious enough, Skinny asked for a difficult fabrication. Instead of the normal straight thru, he wanted the rear muffler to be mounted horizontally since it would look better. It does. The guys agreed and did it without complains. It was pretty difficult since the space underneath the car was tight and that the piping will have to be drastically bent in and out of the mufflers. Even so, it was finally done to Skinny’s expectation.
At about 9-ish pm, the system was completed and it was time to crank up the engine and hear the new Judy. The sound was quietly deep in tone. When accelerate at lower RPM, Judy almost sounded like a Boxer and at higher RPM, it smoothens the sound and remains the deep tone. Honestly, I like it a lot. Given the extra back pressure Judy seems to have gain a few more horsepower and a much smoother band in the torque graph.
TWO THUMBS UP from me once again. Definitely the only shop I would recommend for exhaust work in the entire Klang Valley.
